Effective Jan. 15, 2004, The Silvertree Hotel in Snowmass Village, Colorado, has taken ownership and operational control of the Snowmass Conference Center. Formerly owned by the Snowmass Village Resort Association (SVRA), the 22,000-square-foot Conference Center is located steps from the Silvertree and its sister property, the Wildwood Lodge.
"The change allows SVRA to concentrate on prospecting and booking group business, instead of on operating a facility," John Quigley, senior vice president of The Silvertree Properties and an SVRA Board member, reported. "Of course, the Resort Association will continue to represent the Conference Center and to have access to it in selling that business."
The Center recently underwent a $1 million renovation. During the change in ownership, the executive chef and "key personnel" were retained, according to Quigley. Les Pedersen, director of sales and marketing for the Silvertree, reported that the transition has been remarkably smooth.
"Our groups are thrilled with the convenience of booking and planning their meetings with one entity," he said.
In all, The Silvertree Properties now include the 260-room flagship Silvertree Hotel, the moderately priced 150-room Wildwood Lodge, Village Property Management's 150 condominiums, and the Conference Center, all located within walking distance of each other in Snowmass Village.
Snowmass is just 12 miles from Aspen, and 8 miles from the Pitkin County Airport, which serves both communities. Direct flights are available from Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Memphis. Factoring in connections and the 15-minute drive to either town, and Aspen/Snowmass is the most accessible ski resort in the Rocky Mountains.
